Synopsis:
Drama series, following the life of the 18th-century libertine. Peter O'Toole plays the great lover as an old man, who is persuaded by a parlour maid to share tales of his youthful exploits. He regales her with stories of his introduction to Venetian high society as a young scholar, where he proves popular with the women of the court and falls madly in love with the fiancee of a powerful and rich patrician. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes smitten with a castrato singer…
