Predators and prey that inhabit hostile desert conditions, including the rattlesnake, which must regulate its temperature to be able to move fast enough to strike its prey, and the roadrunner : one of the few creatures quick enough to evade all venomous reptiles. Also featured are the tarantula, the bizarre gila monster and the little-known vinegaroon or whip-tail scorpion which sprays acetic acid on assailants
