As campaigner and founder member of Parents Against Homophobia, Monica is disappointed by the turnout for her rally against Section 28, and even more dispirited to learn her son is settling for a straight relationship after all her efforts. A rash gesture of spontaneous defiance brings Manchester to a grinding halt and makes her headline news, while Bob and Rose's friends, who are just getting used to the couple as an item, are bemused to see their offbeat friend battling for gay rights.
