- Season 26 Episode 31: Respect - Part Two
Conclusion of the two-part series finale, bringing to an end Britain's longest-running police procedural drama, which has been broadcast in 55 countries. The show, which began life as one-off drama Woodentop in 1984, broke new ground by exploring the lives and loves of the officers of the fictional London station of Sun Hill. Callum finally proves himself to Smithy as they hunt the members of the Parkway Crew responsible for the death of Liam Martin, and Mickey goes all-out to get justice for his informant Jasmine Harris following the gang rape
- Season 26 Episode 30: Respect - Part One
In the first of a two-part series finale, a 14-year-old dies in Smithy's arms following a stabbing incident, and CCTV footage reveals he had been acting as a 'mule' for the older members of a gang. One of Mickey's informants is spotted at the crime scene and eventually gives vital evidence pointing to the most likely culprit, but the detective fears for her safety when she is released on bail and returns to the estate

Following his father's funeral, Callum returns to work determined to uncover the truth about the allegation of rape that blackened the dead man's name as a police officer and divided the family for 20 years. Kirsty is shocked by the sergeant's brusque attitude in handling a vulnerable witness, and Smithy eventually realises his troubled colleague will stop at nothing to get a result against a knife-wielding blackmailer. When a couple fail to turn up at the airport for a flight to Italy and their dog is found brutally killed in what appears to be a burglary at their home, suspicion falls on their son, who holds a grudge against his father for turning him in for possession of a class A drug. A neighbour produces mobile phone footage of the family car being torched by teenagers, one of whom is known to the police, and the case takes an unexpected twist when the Sun Hill team starts tracking the missing persons' bank account. A man found beaten to death near his local turns out to be a widower with a drink problem, who has been neglecting his two children and spending a lot of time in the pub with the landlord's attractive girlfriend (played by former EastEnders and Bad Girls actress Nicola Stapleton). Max returns to work following his run-in with Terry, but starts spreading rumours about a relationship between Grace and Neil, and it soon becomes clear he has not sorted out his drug problem

Callum and Kirsty answer a call about a disturbance at the home of an elderly widow and discover she has been raped as well as burgled. A neighbour falls under suspicion, but CID have little hope of putting together a case as the victim proves reluctant to undergo a medical examination. The sergeant is also struggling with family problems after learning he may be running out of time to reach a reconciliation with his estranged father

Leon is still suffering flashbacks of the traumatic events of the previous day and agrees with Kirsty to regard their night together as a one-off. A pregnant woman is seriously injured in what appears to be a carjacking, and a suspect is traced, but later released for lack of evidence. Leon is sent home after losing his temper with the villain, only to defy orders and take matters into his own hands

Following the discovery of the body of a Venezuelan woman on a rubbish dump, Kirsty and Leon are instrumental in tracing family members who lead them to the woman's partner and son on the Larkmead Estate, where the PCs are faced with a harrowing scene. The traumatic day brings the pair together, and they go home together after an evening's drinking

A successful businessman is abducted by an armed gang but the victim's family and accountant seem strangely reluctant to involve the police, claiming he has flown to India. Neil finally reveals to the team that his son's illness has been the cause of his recent problems, and Terry forces Max to tell his boss about his cocaine habit

Max is anxious to arrest a man known to be grooming teenage girls online, but Grace urges him to bug the suspect's home and gather watertight evidence to ensure a conviction. Mickey and Terry realise Max's erratic behaviour is a result of drug abuse, and as the case threatens to go awry, Terry gives his superior officer an ultimatum

Concluding the two-part story. Max orders an observation of the dead boy's stepfather at the funeral after discovering he has ties with known villains suspected of violent robberies. Neil, still trying to deal with the news that his son needs chemotherapy, is furious when he discovers what his team has been up to, and Max's erratic behaviour becomes the talk of the station, even though his strong-arm tactics produce a lead on a lorry hijack planned for later that day

In the first of a two-part story, a body found in woodland is identified as that of an 11-year-old boy not reported missing until two days after his disappearance. His computer reveals that he was planning to run away from his dysfunctional family with a friend, but failed to turn up at the appointed time. Neil remains aloof from his team, only confiding in Banksy, as his son undergoes chemotherapy to combat leukaemia. Emily Joyce (My Hero) guest stars
- Season 26 Episode 18: That Type of Cop
A 15-year-old girl is found wandering the streets, covered in bruises and cigarette burns and obviously confused. She eventually discloses the name of her 'boyfriend' but he refuses to visit her in hospital and it soon becomes clear he is in the business of grooming girls before his uncle traffics them and forces them into prostitution. Max starts to show signs of strain and his increasingly erratic behaviour causes tensions within the team

A man attacks the wrong person in a misjudged effort to take revenge on a boxing coach who abused him during his childhood. When the real culprit is found, still working with children, Banksy has trouble persuading other witnesses to open old wounds and testify against him. It is Neil who persists and gets the vital break, even though he is distracted by the news that his son has leukaemia. Lee Ross (EastEnders) and Robbie Gee (Desmond's) guest star

An old friend of Mickey's is knocked off his bike and killed, and the victim's brother - a known drug dealer - approaches the detective with a request to investigate whether it was a case of murder. Max persuades Neil to let them pursue the inquiry and shows his commitment to the undercover operation by snorting cocaine with their chief suspect

Part two of two. Commander Kennedy prepares to face a hostile Press over charges that police handling of the football crowd contributed to the murder, and is shocked to see CCTV footage showing her own son running away from the crime scene. The victim turns out to have a complicated love life that may have led to the killing, and two other suspects are identified, but the commander's leadership and probity face their sternest test

Part one of two. Jack directs an operation to keep rival football fans apart, but ends up unwittingly channelling a group of them into a dangerous situation. As tension mounts, Commander Lisa Kennedy becomes increasingly anxious about her son, who is attending the match, and she takes control when an ambulance is needed to reach a woman suffering an asthma attack in the crowd. In the ensuing clean-up, a body is discovered

Suspicion falls on the father of a four-year-old boy who goes missing from his garden, but CCTV footage of the abduction tells a different story. Callum, visiting Sun Hill to discuss his suspension, follows the unfolding case and cannot resist chipping in with his opinion of the suspect, but it is solid work by his colleagues in the uniform branch that finally tracks the missing child to a storm drain beside the Thames, where rapidly rising water puts several lives in danger. Part two of two. Morale within the team picks up as the hunt for Paul Sorrel's killer begins to make progress. The dead youngster's cousin reveals the lad was - uncharacteristically - involved in a drug deal to help his mother make ends meet, but the prime suspects are released because of a lack of evidence. Mickey is furious when Neil allows Max to approach his informant, knowing it could put her in danger

Part one of two. Jo and her team are summoned to the scene of a road traffic accident in which a teenager was hit by a car, but has since fled the scene. Instead, they end up dealing with another youngster found fatally wounded in a nearby park. Drugs are found under the crash vehicle, and a witness confirms the two youths were seen together in the park, but Max gets impatient as Jo's investigation begins to flounder and Commander Kennedy has to rally the disheartened detectives

A witness gives Ben and Nate a lead after their patrol car is hit by a stray bullet, but no evidence can be found to identify the owner of a vehicle seen speeding from the scene. The investigation takes a sudden turn when forensics discover two bullet casings outside the home of their eyewitness. Meanwhile, morale is at a low ebb at Sun Hill over the lack of support offered to Callum over the recent accusations of assault

Callum, Jo and Mel sort out a fight outside a club, in which a woman is seriously injured. An inquiry is launched when it is revealed the club has been robbed and a witness to the scuffle accuses Callum of assault after being pushed over and suffering an epileptic fit. Julie Graham (Survivors) joins the cast as Commander Lisa Kennedy

An off-duty Callum is badly beaten after intervening in an argument between a couple, but turns up for work as usual the next day after a night in hospital. New PC Kirsty Knight (Sarah Manners) teams up with Jo and their inquiries lead to the arrest of the man responsible for the attack on their colleague, but he is released due to lack of evidence and Callum decides to take matters into his own hands

A desperate woman barricades herself with her younger son into her estranged husband's house and alerts the police to the fact her children are being neglected and abused by their father. Jo establishes a computer link with her and builds up a measure of trust, but is concerned for the welfare of the boy when a shot is fired inside the house

A letter bomb addressed to the manager of a successful company proves to be harmless but, after talking to the witnesses, Grace has a hunch that worse is to follow. The intended 'victim' turns out to be cheating on his pregnant wife with his secretary, and a courier bears a grudge after being thrown out of the office, but the main suspect is the manager's own brother, who had recently been sacked

On her first shift as a sergeant, Jo is called to the scene of an aggravated robbery in which the homeowner died in a particularly violent and bloody way. When it emerges the victim was an abusive drunk and had been involved with another woman, Grace warms to the man's Asian-born widow and clashes with Max over his apparent racial prejudice. An intruder detained in a couple's flat turns out to have been there before, though the residents claim to have no idea who he is. Jo discovers the suspect works as a security guard in the same building as the woman, and investigates the theory he has been stalking her, but extracting a confession puts her in a tricky position. At the end of an arduous shift, she discovers her hard work is to be rewarded with promotion to sergeant. A 16-year-old claims she has been gang raped by her boyfriend and three of his friends, and Jo goes out on a limb to fight her case, even when it becomes clear the victim is not completely the innocent she at first appeared. When the girl later asks to drop the charges after receiving threatening telephone calls, Jo begs Terry for more time to extract a confession, determined not to let the arrogant youths get away with their crime

On Will Fletcher's last day at Sun Hill, Mickey questions a man accused of assaulting a doctor who he claims is having an affair with his wife. The suspect turns out to be severely depressed and unbalanced, but Callum's macho handling pushes him further toward disaster when he disappears with his baby son in his car. Realising his error, the sergeant tracks him down, only to see the distraught man deliberately smash into a parked vehicle, setting his own car alight

- Season 25 Episode 65: On the Streets
Conclusion. After another night undercover on the streets, Mickey learns a second down-and-out has been murdered. The fears of the homeless community are underlined when Mickey's informant is badly beaten and suspicion falls on property developer Greg Simm (guest star Ralph Ineson), who has form for fraud and deception. It emerges the suspect had trouble with squatters holding up work on a development site, but evidence against him is hard to find. A bigger shock for Mickey is the news his new friend Nicola is in the frame for the murder

Part one of two. Mickey goes undercover as a homeless man to investigate the mystery of a body found in the river wearing a down-and-out's coat over designer clothes. Having eliminated the dead man's ex-fiancee from the inquiries, he gains the trust of a girl living on the streets and discovers the entire homeless community of Sun Hill lives in fear of a shady character known only as Greg. Back at the station, Millie signs off from her final shift

A convicted murderer reaching the end of his sentence learns his 15-year-old daughter has disappeared and the Sun Hill detectives suspect revenge is involved when investigations reveal she had been going out with the victim's son. Pippa Haywood guest stars as the bitter widow who refuses to co-operate with the inquiry, fearing she may lose her son as well as her husband

Grace is summoned to a Soho brothel, where a woman is holding a man at knifepoint, claiming he knows the whereabouts of her 16-year-old sister, who has been missing for six months. Revisiting the familiar case, the detective feels guilty she did not do more to help the family earlier. When a body is found, she follows a lead to the missing girl's old teacher, who had acted as her support buddy when she turned to prostitution to pay for her heroin habit, and nearly loses control when she is overcome by anger in the interrogation room. Leon responds to a call from a distraught mother whose 18-month-old child has sustained serious head injuries. She claims the toddler fell from her highchair, but suspicion mounts that the mother's partner may have contravened his restraining order to visit the family. Tony Stamp spends his last shift with Sun Hill comforting the woman, and is shocked when he has to arrest her for harming her own daughter

Smithy holds a public meeting, hoping to gain the trust and cooperation of hostile residents on the Manley Road estate, who are being terrorised by drug dealers. A plucky shopkeeper takes matters into her own hands to halt the reign of fear, only to find her daughter suffers a backlash from the gang. At the end of a tiring day, Tony Stamp stuns the Inspector with unexpected news

A frantic mother reports her car has been stolen with her baby still strapped inside. The suspect is soon traced, but the child is not recovered until later when her father, following an alleged tip-off, traces her to an alleyway where she is found distressed and badly bruised, still strapped in her car seat. Leon is not convinced the injuries are a result of her recent adventure, and suspects the infant has been abused

Leon's prison officer friend is reluctantly caught up in a plot to smuggle a telephone into Longmarsh jail for a drug dealer. The constable persuades her to go ahead with the plan - despite the risks to herself and her young son - and deliver a bugged phone so CID can continue their surveillance of the gangster. When an eight-year-old is abducted from outside his school, Terry is appointed Family Liaison Officer and finds himself keeping the peace between the boy's divorcing parents. A distressed 17-year-old is found traumatised by years of prolonged abuse and Stevie struggles to establish his identity after the lad's sister fails to recognise him. Max re-examines the evidence from the disappearance of a 12-year-old boy five years previously, hoping to make a connection with someone called Gareth, but it soon becomes clear the troubled young man at the station is not telling the whole story

After a raid, Paul Brewer is arrested for having indecent images of a four-year-old girl on his laptop. He claims to have lent his computer to convicted paedophile George Fielding, who Brewer met in prison. When questioned, Fielding admits to downloading the pictures, but tests prove they were taken by camera and were not from the internet. Neil and Max investigate the murder of a 17-year-old girl who had recently left foster care to live alone. Relations between the detectives are strained when Max makes a disparaging remark about kids placed in care at the children's home, and the case takes an unexpected twist when the prime suspect for the shooting turns out to be the partner of the victim's drug-using mother

Banksy renews acquaintance with the Sissoulu family after a telephone used to tip off the police about a murder is traced back to grieving father Joseph, whose son Danny was recently killed in a similar manner. The dead teenager's friends are reluctant to say much, but suspicion falls on Mo Campbell when his prints are found in the newsagent's shop

Part two of two. When psychiatrist Julia Bickham's partner is injured in a hit-and-run incident and her nanny is attacked in what turns out to be a case of mistaken identity, Neil investigates the possibility somebody holds a grudge against her. Among the suspects is a man whose wife died two years previously from an overdose. On the strength of Julia's professional testimony that it was a case of suicide, the man lost his life assurance claim and subsequently custody of his daughter

Part one of two. A child abandoned in a busy market alerts police to the fact his nanny has been abducted and badly beaten in what turns out to be a case of mistaken identity. Neil recognises the intended target as a psychiatrist he worked with on a previous case in which a mental health patient in her care was shot dead on his orders - so their reunion is less than cordial. Stevie questions a man arrested for launching an unprovoked attack on a fellow drinker in a pub and becomes emotionally involved when she discovers the suspect is deeply depressed after losing his job and learning his wife has been having an affair with her boss. Newly promoted Inspector Smith urges caution, but Stevie puts herself in danger after the downtrodden husband sets out for revenge - carrying a gun. Danielle Brent guest stars

Mickey calls on bitter personal experience when he encounters a teenager who claims she has been raped. Suspicion falls on her current boyfriend, but sensitive questioning reveals the incident took place two years ago at a party when the girl was very drunk and the truth, if revealed, could blow two families apart

Conclusion. One of the assault victims dies in hospital, leaving Sun Hill CID with a murder to solve. Banksy feels he is getting somewhere as liaison officer to the dead youngster's family, and is appalled to discover his colleagues have them under surveillance because their story does not quite add up. Part one of two. A youth suspected of a violent assault on three youngsters is hit by a lorry and killed while running away from Callum and Ben. Jacob is assigned as family liaison officer to the victims and eventually discovers someone completely different was involved in the attack, so the suspect had no reason to flee. The case takes a further twist when the man identified as the real attacker claims he was acting in self-defence

Conclusion. Devlin puts pressure on the prosecution's star witness, who refuses to give evidence, so Smithy is forced to take the stand and face intense scrutiny over his behaviour during the Westgate Estate riot. Heaton announces his departure to set up a new unit, taking Stuart, Kezia and Rachel with him, and causing a few surprise promotions back at Sun Hill. Natasha Little guest stars

Part five of six. Tensions mount between Callum and Smithy as the Sun Hill officers undergo extra riot control training, and the two sergeants come to blows. A witness unexpectedly confirms the details of Jason Devlin's beating, and Smithy finds his career is on the line. Heaton tells Rachel he needs a good result on the case as he is leaving Sun Hill to set up a dedicated unit to tackle human trafficking - and wants her to join him

Part four of six. Callum urges Smithy to deny any knowledge of how Jason Devlin was beaten up, but the landlord files a formal complaint accusing him of the assault and of planting the bag of jewellery stolen from his tenants in his car. One of the gangster's henchmen cracks under interrogation and admits his boss is involved in people-trafficking, but Jack faces a struggle to find hard evidence

Part three of six. Smithy proves to be a hero when a lorry driver suddenly abandons his load of illegal Afghan immigrants in the road and falling boxes in the vehicle kill a man, trapping his daughter. A translator helps the team link the people-trafficking operation with Jason Devlin, who is later found provoking a full blown riot on the Westgate Estate by evicting illegals from his properties. In the ensuing violence, Stevie is beaten unconscious by Devlin and Smithy loses his self-control

Part two of six. The fire at the E1 bar reveals the fact that the Devlins had many enemies, and Smithy starts to take their arrogance personally. Investigators find cocaine and forged identity documents in the debris of the barman's flat, but he insists he knew nothing about either, even when Callum threatens to tell his boss he has been cheating on him with his girlfriend
- Season 25 Episode 39: Conviction: Cover Up
In the first of a six-part story centring on two brothers, a man is badly beaten in a street fight outside the busy E1 bar. Smithy and Callum break up the skirmish and encounter bar owner Jason Devlin, who reveals a vicious streak and manages to rile the officers with his smug air of self-confidence. They entertain doubts about his innocence but are intrigued when he implicates his own brother in the disturbance - without acknowledging the relationship

Part two of two. Jack finds it hard to believe witness reports that his son kept faith with the police and was not responsible for firing the fatal shot when the drug deal was ambushed. After an emotional reconciliation, Ben agrees to take part in a second sting to ransom his girlfriend, who has been kidnapped by the drugs gang

Part one of two. Jack's estranged son Ben is released from prison and Mickey is shocked to discover he is still involved in the drugs scene when his girlfriend is found unconscious outside a known drug den rented in her name. Attempts to keep the situation secret from Jack come to nothing when he turns up unexpectedly to watch a sting operation and is forced to arrest his own son

Conclusion. Inquiries reveal that the brothers running the airfreight company kidnapped restaurant owner Maloud Senac's daughter because he had not paid them for the drugs. The race is on to find the missing girl before it is too late and Sam ends her stint at Sun Hill with a successful result when all the suspects are brought in for questioning. Lisa Maxwell stars
- Season 25 Episode 35: To Live For
Part one of two. Having been offered a job by the Child Exploitation Unit, Sam is keen to leave Sun Hill on a high and the opportunity arises when an old informant discloses details of a drugs shipment involving a restaurateur and two brothers who run an airfreight company. However, the sting goes badly wrong when the informant is kneecapped and the restaurant owner's daughter is kidnapped. Concludes tomorrow

A teenage schoolgirl is reported missing and the girl's mother reveals her daughter was upset by the death of her father and moving to London from Manchester with a new stepfather. Her only friend discloses the girl has recently been seen with bruises. Millie and Leon discover the child's estranged grandmother has followed her brood to London and has been in contact with her granddaughter. Guest starring Rachel Davies

Conclusion. Stevie and Max face an investigation following the near-fatal accident of a suspect they were pursuing and professional differences come between them as they struggle to get a lead in the four-year-old Anderson murder case. As the injured driver battles for life in hospital, the officers wait to hear whether they still have careers

Part one of two. A have-a-go hero is hurt during a raid on a jewellers and promptly disappears from hospital. Investigations reveal he is wanted for a murder committed four years previously. Max and Stevie talk to his sister and father, who insist he was innocent and that they have not seen him since he went on the run

Part two of two. The Sun Hill officers realise Millie must have been taken prisoner along with the missing woman following the toy shop raid. Feeling guilty about refusing to provide protection for the victim, Max resolves to bring his colleague back alive, but an undercover operation to nail the Jenson gang goes awry and Millie is left to fend for herself in the hands of the kidnappers. A lorry driver left for dead by masked raiders who hijacked his vehicle in an isolated lay-by admits to smuggling a woman and her child into the country to help them escape a violent marriage. The search is on to locate the stolen vehicle but when it is finally traced and thoroughly searched, Mel suspects her colleague Arun has taken the case to heart and abused his position as a police officer to tip off the fugitives

Part two of two. As Beth prepares for her last day at Sun Hill, her colleagues urge her to show her feelings for Nate at her leaving party. She is pleased to find herself paired up with him on a call about a domestic disturbance in which a woman is found unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. Max, Grace and Jacob arrest a drug dealer as he makes a deal but his runner escapes, his face concealed by a hoodie. The investigation takes a serious turn when the youngster crashes the stolen car he is driving and runs off, leaving a passenger fighting for her life. The unidentified fugitive is eventually traced to a bail hostel, where three possible suspects are taken in for questioning, but a false confession makes the detectives' job doubly difficult

Sally and Will follow up a report from a shocked driver who accidentally hit a pedestrian with her car, only to see the victim run off. The trail leads to teenage runaway Adam Younger, who is bleeding from a shotgun wound after befriending homeless Jimmy Chadwick and getting involved with a professional hit-man. A sting operation is called off when the gun-man turns up looking for the teenager

A homeless man is hit on the head by 'bricks' that turn out to be bags of cocaine jettisoned by Ben's protege Liam Harvey. When the lad is later found badly beaten, the kindly copper is incensed, assuming his father Bob is responsible. Under provocation during the interrogation, he puts his career on the line by head-butting the suspect and it's left to Callum to save Ben's skin when DPS officers arrive to investigate the resulting complaint

Following a string of humiliating set-ups by teenagers, Gina clamps down on hoax calls and assigns Will to screen all incoming messages, but the plaintive voice of a youngster claiming he and his brother have been kidnapped by their father convinces Nikki it's the real thing. Confronting the suicidal parent (guest star Ralph Ineson) at the docks, she persuades him to release the children - but only on condition she takes their place in his car
