  • Prom 30 - Knussen Conducts Knussen

    Oliver Knussen conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra in performances of his own Horn Concerto, with soloist Martin Owen, and a Proms debut for Helen Grime's Virga, which depicts the electric atmosphere immediately before a storm. The programme also features the second part of Respighi's Roman trilogy, Fountains of Rome, along with Stravinksy's Jeu de Cartes and Balakirev's Casella.   • Prom 20 - Stravinsky and Schumann

    The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, performs a Prom celebrating the centenary of Stravinsky's first collaboration with the Ballet Russes and the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn's birth. The concert includes music from Stravinsky's ballet Pulcinella, plus Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, featuring Nicholas Angelich as soloist, and Mendelssohn's Fifth Symphony.
