• Season 3 Episode 16: Who Shot Barbara?

  The family are shocked when a ruthless gun-man toting an air-rifle shoots Barbara. Luckily, she survives the attack and lies in hospital trying to fathom who the culprit could be. Comedy, starring Gwen Taylor, Sam Kelly and Mark Benton

  The couple decide to retire after drunken sailors and an angry patient prove the last straw and celebrate their new-found freedom with a visit to a garden centre, but Barbara begins to have second thoughts about spending the rest of her life with Ted after he makes a rash decision.   After a night of heavy rain, the no-nonsense housewife wakes to discover the river has burst its banks and the downstairs rooms are flooded, but Ted and Neil are more concerned with finding the TV remote in the murky waters of the lounge and claiming on the insurance. • Season 3 Episode 5: Queenie

  When Ted's acerbic mother is expelled from her latest retirement home, Barbara reluctantly allows her to move in : providing it's only a temporary arrangement. Gwen Taylor stars, with Sam Kelly, Sherrie Hewson and guest star Jean Alexander : former Coronation Street favourite Hilda Ogden

  Ted and Barbara are worried about how a proposed sheep disposal programme will affect them and decide to voice their concerns in the most direct manner possible.   Ted crosses swords with the postman, resulting in a most unusual delivery, while Jean and Barbara test their sisterly bond at the surgery.   Ted is finally chosen as the football mascot and finds himself in an unusual race against time, Barbara prepares to look after grandson George, and Neil and Doreen both end up in tight situations. Comedy, starring Gwen Taylor and Sam Kelly

• Season 2 Episode 5: Tyres

  Unimpressed by the shenanigans at work, Barbara decides to take drastic action, while hapless Martin covers a story which lands him in trouble. Ted is put on the spot during a phone call from millionaire-maker Chris Tarrant and Jean goes under the surgeon's knife, which leads to an unexpected development.   Ted is forced to cough up for his mum's taxi fare when she pays a visit, and Mike turns to Martin and Linda for support after splitting up from his wife. • Season 2 Episode 2: Massage

  Ted is left in charge of the household chores as a bad back forces his wife to take it easy, but he soon finds a solution to his plight : in the form of a cleaner. Meanwhile, it's up to Doreen to keep Barbara abreast of the local news, as Neil's girlfriend offers her services as masseuse and Linda finds Martin's celebrity has its drawbacks.   Martin is understandably chuffed to land an interview with a top TV celebrity, little suspecting what he's letting himself in for. Meanwhile, Ted makes an eye-opening discovery, and Barbara officiates as her mum's ashes are scattered on the moors.   Linda and Neil manage to convince themselves Jean is bald, and Barbara attracts the amorous attentions of a man with gout, while Ted is devastated to lose his anorak : after all, it's more than just a garment, it's a major component of his personality.
