• Season 1 Episode 3: Gertrude Jekyll (2004) Diarmuid Gavin visits Surrey to reveal how Gertrude Jekyll became an unlikely gardening hero in the 1890s when she turned away from the Arts and Crafts movement, owing to failing eyesight, and created a design described as 'impressionism in flowers and plants'. Together with architect Edwin Lutyens, they became the toast of fashionable society. Featuring a dramatic reconstruction with Miriam Margolyes and Jean Marsh. • Season 1 Episode 2: The Great Palmhouse of Kew (2004) Profiles of three of gardening's most notable exponents - botanist William Hooker, blacksmith Richard Turner and explorer Sir Joseph Hooker. Between them, they created the Palm House at Kew Gardens and stocked the glasshouses with a multitude of colourful exotic plants from around the world, risking their lives and reputations along the way
• Season 1 Episode 1: Capability Brown (2004) Exploring the history of British garden design and profiling three of the field's most notable exponents : Capability Brown, Humphrey Repton and Gertrude Jekyll. Among the subjects covered are the landscaping of the grounds surrounding Blenheim Palace, and the stocking of Kew's glasshouses with a multitude of colourful exotic plants from around the world
