Synopsis:
Docu-drama charting the history of the Roman Empire, beginning with the story of Nero. The tale portrays the leader's rising obsession with the city as he organised its rebuilding following the Great Fire, and the devious actions he took in a bid to become even more powerful and rich. The programme conveys his growing insanity, which led to his suicide in 68AD. Michael Sheen stars
