Dramatisation of Marie Stubbs's autobiographical novel of the same name, following her efforts as headteacher of St George's School in north London after the murder of her popular predecessor Philip Lawrence. Coming out of retirement to take on the difficult job, Marie faces an uphill struggle to save the school from closure as the staff and pupils make it clear her presence is unwanted.
