Keeley Hawes and Ben Miles star in this heart-warming fact-based drama about a couple struggling to help their autistic son communicate his fears and begin to lead a normal life. After a two-year wait for confirmation of the diagnosis, Nicola and Rob are pushed to desperation by the demands of six-year-old Kyle's little-understood condition, and almost torn apart over how best to care for him. Loving grandparents Jim and Pat (Duncan Preston and Sheila Hancock) help the family get through each exhausting and emotionally draining day, but it's the arrival of golden retriever puppy Thomas that finally provides the key to release the child from his private nightmare.
