Le Tour Du Monde Des Arts Martiaux Movie

The kendo samurais and gatka Kendo, which literally means 'the way of the sword', is the modern version of kenjutsu, the sword fighting technique once practised in Japan by the samurais. This martial art is also a competitive sport which includes spiritual teaching to develop the fighter's strength of character, determination and moral fibre. Gatka was originally adopted by the holy Sikh soldiers of the 17th century and is characterised by the wearing of two swords: the miri (which represents physical strength) and the piri (symbolising spiritual strength). Today, gatka has evolved beyond its spiritual roots, with competitions being regularly organised in countries with large Sikh populations. Directed by: Singh Chandok, 2009. Country: France
