Fact-based crime drama, following the hunt for the mysterious serial killer who terrorised San Francisco in the late 1960s, taunting the police and the media with cryptic messages. The film tells the story of three men - a cartoonist and a journalist both working for a newspaper in the city and a police detective - who each became obsessed with identifying the murderer after his reign of terror inexplicably stopped, only for their fixation with the case to take a heavy toll on their lives.
