Movie (1997)
Tender biopic of author and acclaimed wit Oscar Wilde, focusing on his affair with Lord Alfred Douglas at a time when homosexual liaisons were illegal. Refusing to flee the country when their relationship was uncovered, he was subsequently jailed, enduring two years of hard labour. Stephen Fry is perfectly cast in the lead, while Jude Law, Vanessa Redgrave and Jennifer Ehle co-star. Watch out for a fleeting appearance by Orlando Bloom.
