An aristocratic English couple move to Kenya as Europe is plunged into World War Two, joining a community of other rather bored and bitter ex-pats who lead a hedonistic life of sex and drugs. The wife soon gets into the swing of things by having an affair, but when her lover is later murdered her husband becomes the prime suspect.
