Movie (2002)
Inspirational drama about Maori girl Paikea, who is raised by her grandfather Koro, the tribal chief, when her mother dies and her grief-stricken father abandons her. The departure of his son leaves Koro without a male heir, so he begins training local boys to determine who is worthy of the honour. But Paikea sets out to prove that she can take on the reins of power. Keisha Castle-Hughes' remarkable performance led to her being the youngest ever nominee for the Best Actress Oscar.
