Movie (1961)
Walter Pidgeon stars as Harriman Nelson, the admiral of a glass-fronted submarine who devises plan to save the world from devastation when the Van Allen radiation belt is ignited by a freak meteor shower. Nelson proposes extinguishing the belt by shooting it with atomic missiles from his vessel, but he faces stiff opposition from a group of officials, as well as his own crew. Exciting sci-fi adventure that inspired the popular Sixties TV series, also starring Joan Fontaine, Barbara Eden, Frankie Avalon, Robert Sterling and Peter Lorre in the strong supporting cast.
