Police buddy movie with a difference. Tom Hanks stars as human sidekick to the sole witness of a murder he is investigating - a large, lovable dog named Hooch who soon turns the detective's well-ordered existence into chaos. But in the best tradition of American cop movies, the unlikely partners eventually develop a grudging fondness for each other - especially when the slobbering pooch gives Hanks' love life a much-needed boost.
