Tony Curtis and Burt Lancaster star in Carol Reed's memorable drama about two circus performers who both fall for lovely tumbler Gina Lollobrigida, leading to all manner of amorous antics and rivalry as each pulls out all the stops to win her heart. If Lancaster seems surprisingly at ease in the big top it's probably because he spent his early years as a member of a circus acrobatics troupe and was only too happy to get back in the swing of things.
