Movie (2001)
Benoît Jacquot's glossy adaptation of Puccini's tragic opera. The story revolves around the tale of the eponymous singer who is conned into betraying her lover to his sworn enemy, believing she'll actually be saving him from execution. However, the dastardly Baron Scarpia has nefarious plans for the star-crossed couple, leading to a tragic conclusion.
