Manager Ryuhei loses his job, and because he is too ashamed to tell his family he pretends to go to work each day while desperately searching for work and eating in soup kitchens. A friend in the same predicament helps him to keep up the deception - but Ryuhei's family realises the truth and begins to disintegrate under the weight of his lies.
