Movie (1983)
Tearjerkers don't come any better than this sentimental comedy drama. Oscar-winner Shirley MacLaine stars in a tale focusing on the love-hate relationship between a mother and her grown-up daughter. The film follows MacLaine's Aurora Greenway as she comes to terms with her daughter's marriage to a man she disapproves of and the prospect of becoming a grandmother, before she is forced to face an impending tragedy. Jack Nicholson (who deservedly scooped the Best Supporting Actor Award) steals many a scene as a former astronaut who strikes up a flirtatious relationship with MacLaine. Debra Winger, John Lithgow, Jeff Daniels and Danny DeVito also number among the cast
