First part of the special edition of George Lucas's often imitated sci-fi trilogy, starring Mark Hamill as heroic farmboy Luke Skywalker, thrust into an intergalactic battle between good and evil while trying to rescue a plucky princess from the clutches of arch-villain Darth Vader. En route he's helped by a cocky space pilot (Harrison Ford), a veteran warrior (Alec Guinness), two bickering robots and an 8ft hairy monster answering to the name Chewbacca.
