A team of scientists attempt to unlock the secrets of a mysterious alien artefact found on the seabed - but it proves to contain knowledge far more harmful to mankind than they anticipated. Adapted from the novel by Michael Crichton, this moody sci-fi thriller does manage moments of creepiness, but fails to maintain the atmosphere, and eventually runs out of steam.
