Movie (1982)
Searing emotional drama, based on the book by William Styron, about a Polish Holocaust survivor whose attempts to start afresh in Forties New York are continually thwarted by ghosts from her nightmarish past, leaving her desperately seeking solace in a stormy relationship with an unpredictable chemist. But all is not as it seems, as a new neighbour seems set to discover. The ever-excellent Meryl Streep stars in an Oscar-winning role, alongside Kevin Kline and Peter MacNicol, both of whom also give deeply affecting performances
