Synopsis:
Thriller set in the 1940s, about a military attorney who investigates the apparently racially motivated murder of a black sergeant in a Louisiana town - but as his exploration proceeds, he discovers plenty of people wanted the victim dead. This searing, knife-edge offering makes for gripping viewing, and the cast - headed by Howard E Rollins Jnr, with Denzel Washington, Adolph Caesar and Art Evans in supporting roles - do a magnificent job
