Kenneth Branagh's remake of the 1972 mystery thriller, with the original film's star Michael Caine sidestepping into the role previously played by Laurence Olivier, of a reclusive author seeking revenge on his wife's lover. Caine's original role is passed on to Jude Law, as the love rival in question, who accepts an invitation to the writer's secluded mansion only to be lured into a complex battle of wits.
