Movie (1966)
A gypsy boy falls for a fey 17-year-old girl who is treated with contempt by her fellow villagers, but the mismatched couple are soon subjected to the deep-seated prejudices of the locals. Slow-moving love story directed with a sure hand by John Mills, adapted from a book by his wife Mary Hayley Bell, and starring their daughter Hayley Mills - who gives a wonderful emotive performance.
