Synopsis:

The Elizabethan playwright (Joseph Fiennes) suffers from writer's block while scripting his new play, and sadistic creditors are poised to close down the theatre. Meanwhile, a young noblewoman disguises herself as a man to fulfil her dream of appearing on stage - leading to a romance that inspires the bard to pen one of his most famous creations. Romantic comedy which pulls out all the stops to get viewers cheering, and boasts a script littered with literary references. Maybe not the masterpiece…
