Cuba Gooding Jnr stars as Mikey, who as a young boy watched his abusive father brutally murder his mother. Years later, Mikey has become a trained assassin, working alongside his step-mother and lover Rose (Helen Mirren). The duo are hired to kill the pregnant wife of a local crime boss, but the discovery that Rose is suffering from terminal cancer prompts her to have a crisis of conscience.
