A geisha in 19th-century Japan gives shelter to a fugitive samurai and falls in love with him, mistakenly believing he feels the same way. Years later, and although having been rejected by the man she saved, she finds herself again drawn to a desperate traveller, while her more wordly friend struggles to deal with an abusive client. Historical drama, with a script by Akira Kurosawa, starring Nagiko Tono and Misa Shimizu
