Movie (1955)
John Wayne swaps the Wild West for the high seas in this bracing adventure. He stars as the skipper of a German freighter, who's not wholly convinced by Nazi policy but wants to do his patriotic duty. However, when he sets sail for home at the outbreak of World War Two, his boat is pursued by a British warship, whose captain is determined to avenge the murder of an innocent fisherman - and matters are further complicated by his villainous first mate and a sultry spy.
