Synopsis:
A puritan bride is wrongly informed that her husband has been killed and seeks solace in an affair with clergyman Gary Oldman, but gets pregnant and finds herself ostracised by his devout parishioners. Roland Joffe's period drama, loosely based on the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne starring Demi Moore, Robert Duvall and Robert Prosky.
