A Scanner Darkly
Movie (2006)
This adaptation of sci-fi writer Phillip K Dick's classic novel stars Keanu Reeves as an undercover detective investigating a powerful new narcotic, while leading a double life as a dealer. But his use of his own drugs and twin identities cause him to descend into paranoia and lose his grip on his own identity. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Richard Linklater's film lays animation over existing live action footage to create a distinctively surreal look. Winona Ryder, Robert Downey Jnr and Woody Harrelson also star.
