Retired schoolteacher BV Pradhan and his wife Parvati are devastated to learn that their only son has been killed. Without their offspring's financial support, the couple decide to rent out a spare room in their apartment to an aspiring actress. But when Parvati learns that her new tenant is pregnant, she sees it as an opportunity for her deceased child to be reborn, and convinces her husband to ensure the woman is kept safe and healthy until the birth.
