Movie (1994)
Live-action version of Rudyard Kipling's much-loved story of Mowgli, an orphaned boy raised by wild animals in the Indian jungle, whose idyllic life looks set to be destroyed after his first meeting with his fellow humans when it becomes clear to greedy soldiers that he knows where a secret hoard of treasure is hidden. Jason Scott Lee, Cary Elwes, Sam Neill, John Cleese, Jason Flemyng and Lena Headey star. Although very good, it's no perky animation and director Stephen Sommers has imbued the tale with a definite dark side that's closer to Kipling's original work than the classic toe-tapping animated adaptation
