Jet Li takes the title role in this loose modern-day retelling of Romeo and Juliet, with the 'star-cross'd lovers' a gangster's daughter and an ex-cop hunting his brother's killer. Their ill-fated romance unfolds in the middle of a mob war between rival American and Chinese factions, and martial arts mayhem soon ensues. Stylish, but frequently over-simplified, adventure with Aaliyah, Isaiah Washington, Delroy Lindo and Russell Wong.
