Movie (2005)

Ken Takakura stars in this touching drama as Gou-ichi Takata, an ageing village fisherman who is contacted by his daughter-in-law and informed that his estranged son is dying of liver cancer. The distraught father rushes to the city hospital, but the young man refuses to see him due to a long-running feud between the pair. Desperate to mend their relationship, Gou-ichi decides to complete a research project that his son was working on, and in doing so, learns a great deal about himself.
