Drifter Nicolas Cage arrives in a small town with nothing but his wits to keep him going. He's soon mistaken for a hit-man by an embittered local - who offers him a hefty sum to carry out a double assassination. But the unlikely hero's plan to take the money and run rapidly backfires, leading to all manner of double-dealing and perilous complications.
