A Confederate captain travelling to join the forces of a notorious general rescues a gold prospector from being lynched for a murder he himself committed. But matters are complicated when the soldier becomes attracted to the prospector's fiancee, while the army he was planning to join turn out to be far from the heroes he took them for.
