Movie (2001)
A partially deaf woman, taken for granted by friends and colleagues, grows frustrated with her mundane life. When she embarks on a romance with a younger man, she learns that he is also a professional thief, and helps him carry out a daring robbery. Jacques Audiard's intelligent thriller cleverly highlights the issues surrounding deafness in the film's superior first half, before settling into a more conventional suspense plot as the film reaches its conclusion.
