Movie (1999)

A 12-year-old misfit struggles to come to terms with the trials of adolescence on a tough Glasgow housing estate, and creates a world of mystery and imagination at the nearby canal with equally baffled friends - only to become involved in a fight with another youngster, leading to tragedy. This strikingly realistic drama never fails to impress, not least thanks to the high-quality cast. William Eadie carries the weight of the film, while Tommy Flanagan and Mandy Matthews co-star. Part of the Summer of British Film season
