The Queen
Movie (2006)
Director Stephen Frears delves into the events surrounding the death of Princess Diana, and gives an intriguing insight into the reluctance of the royal family to acknowledge the British public's overwhelming grief at that emotional time. The relationship between Queen Elizabeth II and Tony Blair is examined as they struggle to reach a compromise in dealing with the situation. Helen Mirren stars in an Oscar-winning role as the taciturn monarch, with Michael Sheen as the recently elected Prime Minister. Excellent biographical drama, also starring James Cromwell as Prince Phillip and Helen McCrory as Cherie Blair
