Drifter Jack Nicholson gets a job at a roadside diner, where he worms his way into the affections of the owner's bored wife - and starts a passionate affair culminating in murder. Steamy remake of the 1946 film noir classic, with Nicholson giving an electrifying performance opposite Jessica Lange, but sadly it still isn't as interesting as the original.
