Mutant man-eating piranhas infest an American river and embark on a bloodthirsty killing spree, and only an alcoholic tour guide and a plucky insurance investigator stand in their way. Enjoyable tongue-in-cheek horror for fans of rubbery special effects and comical over-acting, starring Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies and Barbara Steele. Directed by Joe Dante, whose admiration for his future mentor Steven Spielberg is apparent throughout this Jaws-inspired effort
