A group of stranded travellers gather in a mysterious household filled with an air of foreboding, while the residents - including a crazed atheist and his equally odd religious fanatic sister - keep an eye on them. Fantastically bizarre suspense thriller with a host of weird and wonderful characters, played by stars of the silver screen including Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, Gloria Stuart and Ernest Thesiger.
