Odd Man Out
Classic Carol Reed film starring James Mason as an escaped convict seeking refuge with an old girlfriend (Kathleen Ryan) after being injured during a hold-up - but both police and rivals are hot on his heels. The suspense is so thick you could cut it with a knife thanks to Reed's direction and the clever script by RC Sherriff and FL Green. Co-starring Robert Newton, Robert Beatty, Cyril Cusack and FJ McCormick. It was remade, rather less successfully, in 1969 as The Lost Man with Sidney Poitier in the Mason role
