Synopsis:
A high-class prostitute (a mis-cast Barbra Streisand) is accused of manslaughter and hires lawyer Richard Dreyfuss to prove she is sane in an effort keep her out of an institution. Courtroom drama, also starring Maureen Stapleton and Karl Malden. Martin Ritt's direction provides a gritty sheen to the improbable story, but the enterprise takes itself far too seriously, leaving the cast struggling to make it seem convincing
