Powerful and poignant tale based on Kathryn C Hulme's best-selling novel. Audrey Hepburn (who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance) stars as a novice whose intelligence and independence make it hard for her to submit to her vows - especially when she is sent to the Congo to help agnostic Dr Fortunati. With Peter Finch, Peggy Ashcroft, Dean Jagger and Mildred Dunnock. The movie was also on the shortlist for the Best Film title at the 1959 Academy Awards, but lost out to biblical epic Ben-Hur
