Anthony Hopkins stars as Richard Nixon in this excellent, surprisingly compassionate biopic of the disgraced US president, charting his political life from lowly congressman through to his second triumphant election win in 1972 - which was soon tarnished by the infamous Watergate scandal. The all-star cast also includes Joan Allen, James Woods, Paul Sorvino, Bob Hoskins, Ed Harris and Mary Steenburgen. Directed by probably America's most politicised mainstream film-maker Oliver Stone, who also co-wrote the screenplay
