Embittered bounty hunter James Stewart spends weeks on the trail of elusive outlaw Robert Ryan in the hope of claiming the $5,000 reward on his head. However, he makes the mistake of enlisting two dubious acquaintances to help him - an error of judgement which threatens to cost him more than just the money. Compelling Western, also starring Ralph Meeker and Millard Mitchell as the untrustworthy duo and Janet Leigh as the hero's girl. Directed by frequent Stewart collaborator Anthony Mann
